The official colors for the taxis in Turkey is yellow. They have to have a TAXI sign on top of the cars. Do not accept any taxi offers other than these cars. The plate numbers of the taxis has T (as a single letter) in between the two numericals, such as 34 T 1234.
Most of the taxi drivers do not speak foreign language.
Each taxi should have an electronic counter inside. Do not use any taxis who do not have the display. Taxis are tax covered and they can give you the receipt. Do not hesitate to ask it for your expense reports.
The counters are able to distinguish the day, and night tariff automatically. When it is before 12:00am the display blinks the word "GUNDUZ" to indicate that the tariff is counting the daytime rate. After 12:00 am it blinks "GECE" for the night tariff.
The daily openning rate is 625,000 TL, and the night rate is 50% more than the daytime rates.
The counter ticks in every 250 meters.
